ToeJam and Earl made quite a funky splash back in the day on the Sega Genesis, and now the rappin’ alien duo’s creator, Greg Johnson, has set out on a new funky quest. Johnson’s newest venture, Doki-Doki Universe, is being developed by HumaNature for PlayStation 4, PS3, and the PlayStation Vita. Players will take on the role of a robot who has been abandoned and is now traveling through space meeting all sorts of various creatures of different kinds and interacting with them. Within the game world are a wide variety of collectable items and special puzzles designed around each player’s unique profile they have formed while progressing through the game.
When Doki-Doki Universe launches into the stratosphere it will be a free download. After download, players can zoom around the game’s world, take personality tests and send animated cross-platform messages through the Doki-Doki Mail messaging app. Story mode for the game will be available as downloadable content. Currently, there is not a clear release date set but stay tuned for further information.
