farcry2Just as I was anticipating when Valve announced the introduction of the Premium DLC feature on Steam, PC gamers are starting to get charged for stuff they were offered for free until now. That’s what happens when paid for DLC on consoles is combined with a tougher economy and just one source for downloadable content. But there’s nothing we can do, is there?

Either way, Ubisoft has announced that starting today, PC users can purchase the Far Cry 2 Fortune’s Pack DLC exclusively from Steam for $4.99. If you decide to get it, you will receive three new weapons, two new vehicles and five new multiplayer maps (basically the same thing console owners of the game received), but if you are to compare that with the offerings of the Unreal Tournament 3 Titan Pack (which was offered completely FREE), you start to feel the pain.

But, in the end, we can consider ourselves lucky: console owners always had to pay for DLC (or most of it) while we were getting it all for free. In the end… working for free doesn’t suit anybody’s needs, does it?
