capcomI was really pissed off to hear that Capcom already plans some expensive DLC for the unreleased Street Fighter IV but it seems they have a solid reason behind that: following the company’s financial results which were revealed yesterday, we found out that Capcom’s net income dropped 95% from 2007!

Their net income in the nine months ending on December 31, 2008 was 179 million yen (about $2 million), which still sounds impressive but having in mind that two years ago the money were double, you can feel their pain. Also, Capcom’s operating income dropped 57.2% and net sales dropped 8.6%.

The company quoted poor performance recorded by their arcade titles and the strong yen as the main causes behind their drop in income. Also, they don’t seem too worried, since the company’s big games for the fourth quarter of the fiscal year are not yet released. We’re talking about Resident Evil 5 and Street Fighter IV, two hotly anticipated games this year.
