The 10 Hottest PS3 Games to Be Released in 2009

Today we continue our preview of the year ahead – we’ve already looked at the 10 hottest PC games to be released in 2009, and now it’s time for the PS3 titles to be analyzed. As I was saying, this year will be a great one for video game fans, since we’re having an impressive bunch of very promising titles announced and, to be honest, I found it really hard to choose just 10 games since other highly promising titles like Borderlands, MAG, The Agency or Batman had to be left out. (And no, I did not forget about FFXIII which can’t be included since it only comes in 2010). But enough talking! Let’s check out the 10 hottest games to be released in 2009 for PS3 systems:

cod-mow2 10. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II
– it’s clear that Activision will have a tough competition this year for their upcoming Modern Warfare title, but this doesn’t mean that people will simply forget about it. Its predecessor turned the franchise into a real legend and, since it’s still one of the most popular multiplayer games, we have to place it on the list. The fact that it’s just at number ten just proves how promising other upcoming PS3 games are this year!

bayonetta9. Bayonetta – there are still pretty few details about this upcoming title, but what we know so far is enough to make us want much more. Because we have a hot heroine to start with, who fights against monsters looking like angels and, as the cherry on top – she has guns in her boots, which means that combat sequences will be like nothing we’ve seen before. However, since Bayonetta is created by the man behind the Devil May Cry series, we truly hope that it won’t become yet another pointless button mashing title…

prototype8. Prototype – shapeshifting, superman-like abilities, all sorts of disguise techniques and stealth options – these are just the things to get you started when it comes to Prototype. Add to that a general mass destruction (initiated by the player), fast paced gameplay and absolutely impressive visuals, and you have a GOTY candidate. Oh, yes, this has a cherry on top, too: it’s a sandbox type of game, which means that GTA could finally get a worthy adversary. We’ll see when the game is released to the public, but until then, you can check some Prototype videos!

infamous7. inFamous – another sandbox-styled game that will only be available for PS3 owners this time. It will be a really electric game which allows players to be either heroes or anti-heroes – either way, having fun with their super-powers in a city that never sleeps, nor lacks action. The game is being developed by Sly Cooper creators Sucker Punch, which doesn’t really help the violent inFamous, but every company has to start somehow…

i-am-alive6. I Am Alive – one of my favorite upcoming games (since I am a sucker for Lost, Survivor and all similar shows) and possibly one of the biggest and most pleasant surprises of 2009. The game started pretty strong with an impressive trailer which I urge you to check out, proving that Ubisoft Montreal might have learned from its mistakes with Lost: Via Domus and is ready to give us the adventure of our lives. For real!

heavy-rain5. Heavy Rain – I hope that most of you still remember the impressive Fahrenheit (aka Indigo Prophecy) developed by Quantic Dream, the company which was one step closer to reviving the dying adventure genre. The same company decided to take things to a whole new level on PS3 consoles and deliver us a magnificent psychological thriller that promises to revolutionize both gameplay mechanics and visual standards for “new-gen gaming”. Probably a hidden diamond eagerly waiting to be found, Heavy Rain at shows bags of potential, to say the least.

resi524. Resident Evil 5 – there’s no surprise to have this title on a “Top 10” list, since all previous games in the Resident Evil franchise proved to be high quality products. Of course that’s not the only reason: RE5 promises to be a game as good as its predecessors and probably, just like Resident Evil 4, the previous game in the franchise, it will be able to set new landmarks in action/shooter games. Either way, everybody is waiting to get their hands on the game this March when it hits the shops.

uncharted3. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves – Nathan Drake made its debut in the video games world in 2007 and amazed players with its intriguing combination of third person shooter, platformer and treasure hunting. Naughty Dog, game’s developers, promise that this year Nathan Drake will take us all to the next level and will soon become “bigger” than Lara Croft. Hopefully they’re not talking about certain body parts…

killzone22. Killzone 2 – the game will be released exactly one month for now, reviews have already surfaced the internet and some gamers already tested Guerrilla’s tactical shooter and the general opinion is unanimous: Killzone 2 will rock the PlayStation 3 consoles and is clearly the hottest PS3 release of the first half of the year. And there’s really nothing else to say ’bout it!

gow31. God of War III – a game that promises to bring “hell on earth” as gods and titans battle each other in impressive settings – everything rendered at full 1080p HD resolution, with some visuals which will make Gears 2 jealous, is clearly a game to look after. Kratos will be up for a brand new adventure and, even though we have very few details about it or the final product, we can already anticipate that, just like the previous GoW titles, this will also be a “must have” for PlayStation owners.

What PS3 games announced for 2009 would you add to the list?

That looks like a well thought out list for 2009.

I’m anticipating MAG! I mean, come on, 256 players in one battlefield? Well, more have been done before, that’s true, but this seems different. Made by Zipper, the people who made the SOCOM series (And one or two flight games… Large increase for the chance of flyable planes in the game!), so it should be good.

Too bad only one trailer and one in-game screenshot has been released. Not enough info to be on here, I think, but then again, GOW III and I Am Alive don’t have much info on them, either.

    January 27, 2009 at 2:41 am

I’d add Gran Turismo 5 (It still might make it this year) and White Knight Chronicles to that list.

Uncharted 2 fan ! Tekken 6 is on my wishlist ;D

  8. NoIzzle

    January 29, 2009 at 10:12 pm

i think uncharted was not that good besides the environment designs.
the gameplay was basic and the game seemed to repeat itself over and over. (e.g. guy comes out of the forest, u kill him, than more guys come).
resident evil 5 should be ahead of uncharted 2 most definitely !
GOW3 is going to make Gears 2 look like sesame street

  9. Limanima

    February 2, 2009 at 10:28 pm

@ NoIzzle. Are you forgetting about the story? The story made the players want more and more.

Don’t forget about some PSN titles that re comming: like Flower or Fat Princess. Some times smaller games are better then big block busters like RE5.

What about Fight night rd 4 with iron mike or the new ufc game..!!those will rock!

  17. St3zz

    May 10, 2009 at 7:06 pm

Heavy Rain… most certainly! it’s going to rock, I was already impressed by Fahrenheit a few years ago, so this must be the highlight of 2009.

MW2 was at the bottom of the list, but at least GOW3 is there at the top :)

what about gran turismo 5…. dats da main reason why i got ps3

  21. Odogg

    May 24, 2009 at 6:28 pm

Wow, I am in love with some of these titles, but at the same time..there were titles left out of the top 10 that should’ve been there. Most of all, I am looking forward to God of War 3, because i have the others and this one, being one ps3 instead of ps2, is guaranteed to be a thriller. A close second would be MAG, which was left out of this list. I read the whole feature in Gameinformer, and its 256 player multis sound like a ballsload of fun. Third, is the insanely popular Modern Warfare sequel. I know for a fact that these titles will be released in the opposite order from which I ranked them, so GOW3 fans are going to have to wait a LONG time… but the wait is worth it.

  22. Odogg

    May 24, 2009 at 6:36 pm

P.S. I agree GoW3 and MW2 should be close together on this list..and as for the Resistance 3 comment.. I LOVE THAT SERIES, but let’s get real. There’s no way the company is gonna dish it out this year without it being a piece of crap, the more we wait, I believe the higher quality R3 will be.

  23. Larry24680

    May 25, 2009 at 10:35 pm

R3 wouldn’t be out this year because insomniac games is working on Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack In Time, which should be on this list!

  24. Ross

    May 27, 2009 at 9:29 am

    Typo alert! “surviver” -> “survivor”

Just FYI — not trying to be a spelling snob or anything, just pointing it out! :)

Great list! I am looking forward to checking out all the games on this list!

  25. Calin

    May 27, 2009 at 10:44 am

Thanks for the heads up, Ross! I have corrected the typo and it all looks better now! :)

  30. Jon

    December 10, 2009 at 10:36 pm

BlazBlue Calamity Trigger is probably the best fighting game out on the ps3 right now. but those titles are really good.

12 Inspiring Ways to Fuel Your Dissertation Writing Motivation

12 Inspiring Ways to Fuel Your Dissertation Writing Motivation

The writing process is inherently complicated. But once you take ownership of your writing, things begin to change. What does that mean to take “ownership” of your writing? It means your writings belong to better or for worse, to you and you alone. If you screw up your courage to write, your ownership of that writing must be respected by your audience-of one or a thousand. Being overly stimulated can also be harmful, as some scholars push to write their academic papers more than their set goals. That is why you need to have dissertation writing motivation so that you can find yourself able to meet your goal the next day.

As William G. Perry Jr. said, “First you make a mess, then you clean it up.” So, don’t give
up if you make a mess first. But if you’re allergic to handling this mess, it’s recommended
that you look for a dissertation writing service online.

In this article, we are going to explain some inspiring ways to fuel your dissertation writing motivation. Continue reading the Article if you need motivation for your thesis or dissertation writing journey.

In this article, we are going to explain some inspiring ways to fuel your dissertation writing motivation. Continue reading the Article if you need motivation for your thesis or dissertation writing journey.

Staying motivated while writing your dissertation is as important as having your dinner because you need food to live and motivation to complete your dissertation. Keeping up with the motivation to write a dissertation becomes harder when you see everyone on a break. Losing motivation can cost you low grades. So, we have provided some top tips to keep your motivation going.

1. Free-writing and Making a Mess

You might think how making a mess can help you get your dissertation writing done. Freewriting is one of those activities in which two and two sometimes add up to five. Freewriting can support you develop an addiction to writing. And don’t worry, almost everyone starts out writing crap.

Start with the small task, learning to write 10 minutes daily. Just start writing no matter what you write. Once you start following freewriting, your thoughts will start to get clearer and cleaner. Once your thoughts get clearer and you seem familiar with your topic, you start out writing good stuff, and then gradually, writing a dissertation becomes easier.

2. Using Behavioural Principles

Using behavioural principles for motivation for your dissertation writing, keep in mind the positive and negative reinforcement. It’s possible to train your mind by punishing yourself for doing something wrong, but it’s inhuman.

So, think of positive reinforcement, like rewarding yourself for each accomplishment. Like using the “Grandma’s mashed potatoes law”: “No dessert until you’ve eaten

your mashed potatoes.” Translated into a writing strategy, say you will get something as a reward for writing 2 or 5 pages that you don’t want to live without. For example, if you don’t feel the day is complete without reading the newspaper or talking to a friend, don’t allow yourself to do so unless you have completed your writing goal for that day.

3. Recognise External vs. Internal Motivation

When you start your degree or write your dissertation, motivators like a degree, a good job, and praise might drive you. However, over the period, one needs to develop internal motivators, like personal interest, passion for the topic, or will to bring a change to the field.

To get long-term motivation, it is necessary to develop an interest in the field. Once your work or profession becomes your passion, you no longer need external motivators.

4. Set Your Daily Writing Goal

It’s important to set daily goals for your dissertation writing motivation. There are three methods for setting goals, but before that, you need to commit to setting realistic goals and dividing them into small chunks.

  1. The first method is the “Sit There Method.” In this method, you sit down to write your dissertation forcertain hours, maybe three hours, a day.
  2. The second method is the “Motivation Method” In this method, you plan on writing each day until you come up with one or two decent ideas.
  3. The third method is the “Many Pages Method”. In this method, you have to pick a fair number of pages and keep the count the same every day.

In our opinion, the “Many Pages Method” performs the best. This method produces a large volume of writing, at least some of which is likely to be useful.

5. Don’t Overwhelm Yourself

Getting stuck and getting out of mind while writing a dissertation is normal. Don’t overwhelm or frustrate yourself on that. If you feel you are going in a circle and not moving forward to some achievement towards completion of the final draft of your dissertation. Just continue writing anything other than your papers. Try limiting your writing time. Say to yourself, “You’re only allowed to write for half an hour.”

Also, try consulting some mentor or advisor to discuss the overall situation of your writing process. If you find no way out, reaching out to a professional dissertation writer is still an option.

6. Funky Exercises for Times When You’re Stuck

If you were always inspired to be a poet, it’s your chance. Write in other forms of writing. Take some time to re-evaluate your writing goals. Many people get stuck in their dissertations because they set unrealistic goals for their writing process.

out of reach goals may kill your motivation. You need to decide practically, not ideally, what a doable writing goal is for you and then start working. Revisit the notes made in the research process and evaluate if you’ve missed any important points. Instead, trying to ask yourself questions or writing about why you feel you’re stuck is a good exercise to do.

7. Keep Encouraging Yourself

Keep repeating encouraging and motivational phrases to yourself. Like “I am capable of completing this dissertation, challenges are opportunities for me to grow and improve.”

Remind yourself of why you started. What did you want to accomplish on the task when you started? Remind yourself that completing this dissertation will open new doors for you.

Saying these affirmations regularly will give you more energy and keep you on track with your dissertation writing motivation.

8. Overcome Procrastination

Procrastination is delaying the work at hand without any reason. In writing a dissertation, procrastination is when you delay writing even though you want to finish it. You face it when you have to make a lot of decisions. Decisions drain your energy and make you feel procrastinated.

That is why you need to pre plan your dissertation writing process. Pre-decide things like which information to add and which to avoid. Don’t think before you start writing about how many pages to write today or if you should write or visit some friend for an outing.

9. Develop a Writing Addiction

Addictions get pretty bad press. But there are bad and good ones. Writing can be one of the good habits to have, or we say, fortunate habits to have. Having an addiction and developing an addiction are two separate things.

To develop a writing addiction, you need to start writing in the first place. A good option is to start writing your dissertation with a freewriting style. Once you find joy and fulfilment in the writing process and a sense of accomplishment from your crafts, you will build a habit of writing.

Habits slowly and gradually become addictions as you get addicted to pouring your heart out and getting praise from your crafts.

10. Overcome Interruptions from Inside and Outside

The interruptions from inside can be your mental conditions, like having anxiety or depression due to some personal or family issues. And factors like unexpected illness or death of some loved ones or a cold that clogs your nose and throat.

You need to overcome these interruptions to focus on writing your dissertation. Everybody can thrash these obstacles to focus on the work. If they had not, they might not have come thus far.

11. Don’t Isolate Yourself

Isolating yourself while writing your dissertation can drain all the motivation you had when you started working. We have seen scholars suffering from isolation while writing their dissertations.

You should try to abstain from writing for longer periods, distract yourself through family time and make plans for healthy activities. You can join some feedback groups; observing the dissertation and engaging with the group will help you think critically about the text, and you will get rid of solitude as well.

12. Join a Summer Dissertation Camp

Joining a summer dissertation camp or fellowship will keep you motivated and active. You can also find time to analyse your dissertation critically and make changes in the writing process.

Plus, you will not get stuck at any stage. If you get stuck, you will have the fellows or someone to advise you on the process, someone who can point out what you’re doing wrong. Joining a summer dissertation camp will save you from isolation as well.

Dissertation writing motivation may disappear more often, and you might think to quit. But quitting is not the solution. In this article, we have tried to inspire and motivate you in different ways. We have discussed how overcoming procrastination and setting your daily goals can help you stay motivated.

We have heard the stories of people who are in their third, fourth, or even seventh year, yeah, you heard it right, seventh year, and some people isolate themselves in the struggle to be focused. That’s not a good thing to do either. Those scholars who don’t find the motivation to write their dissertation or are not into writing can buy dissertation online. Hand over your worries to some trustworthy expert who can write original content for your dissertation and complete it quickly.

Top Fighting Games on Android

Fighting Games on Android

Fighting games have been a major sub-genre of the industry since the dawn of gaming. While the original fist-fighting game came out in 1976, the genre arguably peaked in the 1980s. Dozens of franchises came smashing down arcades, from Mortal Kombat to Tekken.

But gamers do not need to visit the local gaming center anymore to get in on the action, as platform fighters and hand-to-hand combat have long gone mobile. So, are you up for a brawl? Whether you’re into brutal MMA fights or formidable superhero battles, let’s round up some of the best fighting games to play on Android.

Marvel Contest of Champions

While movies and comic books are still at the core of its extended universe, Marvel has also expanded to the gaming medium. Much to mobile gamers’ dismay, though, exhilarating brawler games like Marvel’s Avengers and massive crossovers like Marvel vs. Capcom never made it to smartphones. But Marvel Contest of Champions is more than epic enough to make up for it.

Developed by Kabam, this versus-fighting action game features a pretty strong line-up comprising virtually every Marvel character in the book. Beloved heroes like Wolverine, Spider-Man, and Hulk are all set for battle throughout iconic Marvel locations, such as Asgard, Stark Tower, and Wakanda. Yet players may as well pick supervillains to pit against the good guys. So, assemble the strongest super-heroic team and combine each champion’s unique set of devastating attacks and special abilities. Better yet, this mobile Marvel game allows for competitive multiplayer fighting.

Skullgirls: Fighting RPG

Skullgirls is a solid contender for best mobile fighting game out there. This fighting RPG by Autumn Games has got some incredibly responsive battle animations going for it, and just enough grind to keep players engaged for hours on end. Fun special moves and combos take fast-paced combat to the next level, serviced by colorful background visuals and a jazzy soundtrack that may feel out of place but gives the game that much more flavor.

And all kicking and pummeling aside, Skullgirls has much in the way of the story, too. In an original twist on the genre, this 2D RPG features an all-female cast of quirky yet fierce hand-animated characters. Players may even customize their fighter while searching for the elusive Skullgirl and stopping her from destroying the city of New Meridian.

Mortal Kombat

Alongside Capcom’s Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat is probably the best-known fighting franchise in the world. The series stemmed from the idea of making a video game starring action movie superstar Jean-Claude Van Damme. Funnily enough, JCVD would eventually play center stage in the live-action adaptation of Street Fighter. Still, Mortal Kombat spawned countless installations, TV series, and feature films.

And gamers can now experience the visceral fighting and trademark Fatalities that made the franchise so infamous straight on mobile. Mortal Kombat shows off a whopping roster of over 130 warriors, who level up through challenges of increasing difficulty. Teaming up fighters with matching synergies, mobile players can tackle ferocious enemies in online competitive mode or all on their own. This mobile version of the legendary game also includes a card collection feature.

EA Sports UFC

The intensity of the Octagon translates superbly to the gaming medium. Released by Electronic Arts on multiple platforms, EA Sports UFC quickly became the go-to title for gamers with a knack for mixed martial arts. And the mobile version doesn’t disappoint, pitting up to 97 UFC fighters against one another in heated fashion – and even martial arts legend Bruce Lee as an unlockable bonus. EA Sports UFC may thus be the perfect mobile game to dive into while waiting for the next big superstar comeback.

Meanwhile, prominent fighters like Valentina Shevchenko and Nikita Krylov will keep fans on the edge of their seats in upcoming UFC events. And MMA enthusiasts can even spruce up the experience with a gamble. Reviewers like SBO have laid down the most profitable online bookies for punters to explore. The best sportsbooks offer a range of betting options on MMA, ranging from method of victory to total rounds. Lofty bonuses and welcome packages also await newcomers. And online punters can make bank out of even more sports, from the ultra-popular to the niche.

Fighting games are as old as time. But with improved gameplay and ever-so-striking aesthetics, they’ve remained fresh throughout the decades. And players can now get their fists to do the talking on mobile, from retro titles to inventive entries.
