The 10 Hottest PS3 Games to Be Released in 2009

Published

on

Today we continue our preview of the year ahead – we’ve already looked at the 10 hottest PC games to be released in 2009, and now it’s time for the PS3 titles to be analyzed. As I was saying, this year will be a great one for video game fans, since we’re having an impressive bunch of very promising titles announced and, to be honest, I found it really hard to choose just 10 games since other highly promising titles like Borderlands, MAG, The Agency or Batman had to be left out. (And no, I did not forget about FFXIII which can’t be included since it only comes in 2010). But enough talking! Let’s check out the 10 hottest games to be released in 2009 for PS3 systems:

cod-mow2 10. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II
– it’s clear that Activision will have a tough competition this year for their upcoming Modern Warfare title, but this doesn’t mean that people will simply forget about it. Its predecessor turned the franchise into a real legend and, since it’s still one of the most popular multiplayer games, we have to place it on the list. The fact that it’s just at number ten just proves how promising other upcoming PS3 games are this year!

bayonetta9. Bayonetta – there are still pretty few details about this upcoming title, but what we know so far is enough to make us want much more. Because we have a hot heroine to start with, who fights against monsters looking like angels and, as the cherry on top – she has guns in her boots, which means that combat sequences will be like nothing we’ve seen before. However, since Bayonetta is created by the man behind the Devil May Cry series, we truly hope that it won’t become yet another pointless button mashing title…

prototype8. Prototype – shapeshifting, superman-like abilities, all sorts of disguise techniques and stealth options – these are just the things to get you started when it comes to Prototype. Add to that a general mass destruction (initiated by the player), fast paced gameplay and absolutely impressive visuals, and you have a GOTY candidate. Oh, yes, this has a cherry on top, too: it’s a sandbox type of game, which means that GTA could finally get a worthy adversary. We’ll see when the game is released to the public, but until then, you can check some Prototype videos!

infamous7. inFamous – another sandbox-styled game that will only be available for PS3 owners this time. It will be a really electric game which allows players to be either heroes or anti-heroes – either way, having fun with their super-powers in a city that never sleeps, nor lacks action. The game is being developed by Sly Cooper creators Sucker Punch, which doesn’t really help the violent inFamous, but every company has to start somehow…

i-am-alive6. I Am Alive – one of my favorite upcoming games (since I am a sucker for Lost, Survivor and all similar shows) and possibly one of the biggest and most pleasant surprises of 2009. The game started pretty strong with an impressive trailer which I urge you to check out, proving that Ubisoft Montreal might have learned from its mistakes with Lost: Via Domus and is ready to give us the adventure of our lives. For real!

heavy-rain5. Heavy Rain – I hope that most of you still remember the impressive Fahrenheit (aka Indigo Prophecy) developed by Quantic Dream, the company which was one step closer to reviving the dying adventure genre. The same company decided to take things to a whole new level on PS3 consoles and deliver us a magnificent psychological thriller that promises to revolutionize both gameplay mechanics and visual standards for “new-gen gaming”. Probably a hidden diamond eagerly waiting to be found, Heavy Rain at shows bags of potential, to say the least.

resi524. Resident Evil 5 – there’s no surprise to have this title on a “Top 10” list, since all previous games in the Resident Evil franchise proved to be high quality products. Of course that’s not the only reason: RE5 promises to be a game as good as its predecessors and probably, just like Resident Evil 4, the previous game in the franchise, it will be able to set new landmarks in action/shooter games. Either way, everybody is waiting to get their hands on the game this March when it hits the shops.

uncharted3. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves – Nathan Drake made its debut in the video games world in 2007 and amazed players with its intriguing combination of third person shooter, platformer and treasure hunting. Naughty Dog, game’s developers, promise that this year Nathan Drake will take us all to the next level and will soon become “bigger” than Lara Croft. Hopefully they’re not talking about certain body parts…

killzone22. Killzone 2 – the game will be released exactly one month for now, reviews have already surfaced the internet and some gamers already tested Guerrilla’s tactical shooter and the general opinion is unanimous: Killzone 2 will rock the PlayStation 3 consoles and is clearly the hottest PS3 release of the first half of the year. And there’s really nothing else to say ’bout it!

gow31. God of War III – a game that promises to bring “hell on earth” as gods and titans battle each other in impressive settings – everything rendered at full 1080p HD resolution, with some visuals which will make Gears 2 jealous, is clearly a game to look after. Kratos will be up for a brand new adventure and, even though we have very few details about it or the final product, we can already anticipate that, just like the previous GoW titles, this will also be a “must have” for PlayStation owners.

What PS3 games announced for 2009 would you add to the list?

I’m anticipating MAG! I mean, come on, 256 players in one battlefield? Well, more have been done before, that’s true, but this seems different. Made by Zipper, the people who made the SOCOM series (And one or two flight games… Large increase for the chance of flyable planes in the game!), so it should be good.

Too bad only one trailer and one in-game screenshot has been released. Not enough info to be on here, I think, but then again, GOW III and I Am Alive don’t have much info on them, either.

I’d add Gran Turismo 5 (It still might make it this year) and White Knight Chronicles to that list.

Uncharted 2 fan ! Tekken 6 is on my wishlist ;D

  8. NoIzzle

    January 29, 2009 at 10:12 pm

i think uncharted was not that good besides the environment designs.
the gameplay was basic and the game seemed to repeat itself over and over. (e.g. guy comes out of the forest, u kill him, than more guys come).
resident evil 5 should be ahead of uncharted 2 most definitely !
GOW3 is going to make Gears 2 look like sesame street

    February 2, 2009 at 10:28 pm

@ NoIzzle. Are you forgetting about the story? The story made the players want more and more.

Don’t forget about some PSN titles that re comming: like Flower or Fat Princess. Some times smaller games are better then big block busters like RE5.

    May 10, 2009 at 7:06 pm

Heavy Rain… most certainly! it’s going to rock, I was already impressed by Fahrenheit a few years ago, so this must be the highlight of 2009.

what about gran turismo 5…. dats da main reason why i got ps3

  21. Odogg

    May 24, 2009 at 6:28 pm

Wow, I am in love with some of these titles, but at the same time..there were titles left out of the top 10 that should’ve been there. Most of all, I am looking forward to God of War 3, because i have the others and this one, being one ps3 instead of ps2, is guaranteed to be a thriller. A close second would be MAG, which was left out of this list. I read the whole feature in Gameinformer, and its 256 player multis sound like a ballsload of fun. Third, is the insanely popular Modern Warfare sequel. I know for a fact that these titles will be released in the opposite order from which I ranked them, so GOW3 fans are going to have to wait a LONG time… but the wait is worth it.

  22. Odogg

    May 24, 2009 at 6:36 pm

P.S. I agree GoW3 and MW2 should be close together on this list..and as for the Resistance 3 comment.. I LOVE THAT SERIES, but let’s get real. There’s no way the company is gonna dish it out this year without it being a piece of crap, the more we wait, I believe the higher quality R3 will be.

  23. Larry24680

    May 25, 2009 at 10:35 pm

R3 wouldn’t be out this year because insomniac games is working on Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack In Time, which should be on this list!

  24. Ross

    May 27, 2009 at 9:29 am

    Typo alert! “surviver” -> “survivor”

Just FYI — not trying to be a spelling snob or anything, just pointing it out! :)

Great list! I am looking forward to checking out all the games on this list!

  25. Calin

    May 27, 2009 at 10:44 am

Thanks for the heads up, Ross! I have corrected the typo and it all looks better now! :)

  30. Jon

BlazBlue Calamity Trigger is probably the best fighting game out on the ps3 right now. but those titles are really good.

Encouraging Growth and Motivation: Resources for Child Development

Child development is a complex journey marked by critical milestones where each stride forward builds upon the foundation of the previous one. Acknowledging children’s individual needs, pediatric therapy services tailor strategies to foster physical, emotional, and cognitive growth. To support this transformative process, environments that prompt curiosity and engagement, coupled with advanced educational tools, play an instrumental role in shaping young minds. These resources, carefully selected and applied, can significantly amplify a child’s developmental trajectory. Keep reading to learn about the effective ways these tools and techniques can aid in advancing childhood milestones.

Pediatric Therapy Services: Enhancing Developmental Milestones

img

Pediatric therapy services support children as they reach and surpass developmental milestones. These services, often provided by skilled therapists, address various growth challenges, ensuring each child has the best possible start in life. From speech and occupational therapy to physical and behavioral interventions, these professionals tailor their approach to meet the unique needs of every young patient.

Therapists work relentlessly to motivate children, fostering an environment where milestones are not merely achieved but celebrated. Through personalized, one-on-one sessions, children gain the confidence and skills necessary to navigate their developmental journeys more easily. The trust between therapist and child is a solid foundation for consistent progress and paves the path for lifelong learning and adaptation.

Resource provision is a key component of pediatric therapy, equipping parents with the tools to continue therapy practices at home. Effective communication between therapists and families ensures a cohesive strategy that envelops the child’s daily routine, enhancing the therapy’s impact. It also allows parents to identify subtle progress, reinforcing their pivotal role in the child’s developmental success.

If you’re looking for pediatric therapy in your area, a simple Google search like “pediatric therapy Arizona” will help you find local providers and services tailored to your child’s needs, ensuring they receive the specialized care necessary for their development.

Optimizing Play Spaces: Creating Environments for Learning and Exploration

img

Optimized play spaces are vital platforms where children engage with their world, build skills, and unleash their creativity. Designers of such areas pay astute attention to elements that promote safe exploration and intellectual stimulation. A thoughtfully arranged play environment serves as a place of entertainment and a crucible for burgeoning development.

Professionals incorporate a variety of tactile and visual stimuli within play areas to cater to diverse developmental needs and interests. Stimulating sensory experiences is central to cognitive and motor skill refinement among younger populations. The intentional selection of colors, textures, and interactive features sparks curiosity and encourages physical activity, which is fundamental to healthy growth.

Accessibility remains paramount in creating play spaces, ensuring they cater to children across all abilities. Including adaptive resources within these environments demonstrates a commitment to inclusive development, allowing every child to participate and benefit from the joy and learning play offers. Such inclusiveness fosters a sense of community and belonging, which is essential for emotional and social development.

Affording children autonomy in their play advances self-directed learning and problem-solving capabilities. When children feel empowered to make choices within their play, they better understand their preferences and abilities, setting the stage for confidence and self-awareness — qualities that are instrumental as children grow and transition through life’s stages.

Additionally, incorporating elements like fake plants or outdoor plants from retailers like Nearly Natural outdoor plants into play spaces can enhance children’s sensory and aesthetic experience.

Interactive Learning Tools: Technology and Resources for Cognitive Development

Interactive learning tools harness technology’s power to solidify children’s cognitive development. These digital resources provide an array of engaging, educational content that aligns with critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Software and applications designed for children’s learning capitalize on the allure of multimedia to capture young minds. Effective education solutions provide children with stimulating challenges that are age-appropriate and aligned with developmental targets.

The discerning use of educational technology in classrooms and homes can reinforce concepts and skills taught through traditional methods. It creates a harmonious blend of instruction and interactive play, thereby cementing a child’s understanding and retention of information.

Providers of such educational platforms are ever vigilant, updating content to reflect new educational strategies and the latest academic research. Thus, children equipped with these technological tools remain at the vanguard of current learning methodologies, all while engrossed in fun and dynamic ways.
Overall, caregivers and educators can provide comprehensive support for children’s developmental journeys by integrating pediatric therapy services, optimized play spaces, and interactive learning tools. These resources nurture their physical, emotional, and cognitive growth and cultivate a lifelong love for learning and exploration.
