ffxiiiSquare Enix will sure lose a bunch of fans as today we have word regarding their most anticipated title in recent times: Final Fantasy XIII. According to various reports, the RPG will only be released in Japan this year and people living in other countries should not hope to ply it sooner than 2010 – sometime in April.

It was Square Enix’s president Yoichi Wada who made the announcement to the Guardian, but specified no reasons for the delay. Further more, he announced that the company first plans to finish the PS3 version of the game before working on the Xbox 360 port and since a simultaneous release is planned, this could be the reason why we’ll have to wait so much for the release of Final Fantasy XIII. Why can’t they develop both the PS3 and Xbox 360 version at the same time – it beats me. Probably game developers are as strange human beings as anybody else.

So, if we’re not going to get the latest RPG in the Final Fantasy series until 2010, we can at least check out Japanese magazines and see what surprises are in prepared for the launch…
