The game is being updated and will hit 1080p resolution and will run at 60fps. It will be free for players who played The Master Chief Collection between the games’ launch and the 19th December whilst signed into Xbox Live. In a post on Halo Waypoint, 343 Industries confirmed that it has no plans on including ODST’s Firefight mode in the DLC.
As well as the ODST campaign, eligible players will also get a free month of Xbox Live Gold as well as an exclusive in-game nameplate and emblem. Also coming is another map from Halo 2 getting a makeover; with Relic the lucky map returning with a new lick of paint and coming out in a nice 1080p resolution.
In a post on Xbox Wire, 343 Head Bonnie Ross said: “We chose this map based on its suitability for Slayer and Objective modes and its ability to support teams of varying sizes.” As with the previous Halo 2 maps that were given a reimagining, developer Certain Affinity will be in charge of the update.
343 added that: “ODST and Relic were not part of our original development plans, but as a result of community feedback, and to do something special for our fans, both are now in development.”
These freebies are being gifted as thanks to Halo fans for their support and understanding. “This has been a humbling experience and highlighted how we as a studio can – and need – to do better for Xbox fans around the world.” Ross wrote. “We are so grateful to our fans that have stood by our side and we appreciate all of your patience as we worked through these issues.”
This weeks’ update will add 10 episodes of Spartan Ops will be added to Halo 4 as well as trying to fix a number of problems.
