September was a sweet month for Electronic Arts and the company proved once again that it can easily be considered the biggest publisher in the world right now even though Activision Blizzard are attacking hard. Anyway, games published by EA for the PC sold very well, with Spore, Warhammer Online and The Sims grabbing the first… five places (Collector’s editions included).

Here are the top 20 best selling PC games in September, according to data provided by NPD:

1. Spore – EA Maxis
2. Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning – EA Mythic
3. The Sims 2 Apartment Life Expansion Pack – EA Maxis
4. Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning Collector’s Edition – EA
5. Spore Galactic Edition – EA Maxis
6. World Of Warcraft: Battle Chest – Blizzard
7. Crysis Warhead – Crytek (Publisher: EA)
8. The Sims 2 Double Deluxe – EA Maxis
9. World Of Warcraft – Blizzard
10. Spore Creature Creator – EA Maxis
11. World Of Warcraft: Burning Crusade – Blizzard
12. Civilization IV: Colonization – Firaxis
13. Warcraft III Battle Chest – Blizzard
14. Civilization IV – Firaxis
15. The Sims 2 IKEA Home Stuff Expansion – EA Maxis

18. Hot Wheels: Beat That – Activision
19. Crysis – Crytek (Publisher: EA)
20. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky – GSC Game World

So, with two exceptions – Civilization and STALKER – September was clearly dominated by EA and Activision Blizzard. Are smaller publishers still alive?
