In today’s Pokémon Direct, Nintendo has announced that the Wii U 3D brawler Pokkén Tournament and the latest Pokemon adventure Pokémon Sun & Moon are getting new versions! Check out the full direct below!
The first title is the new version of Pokkén Tournament. Officially titled Pokkén Tournament DX, this updated re-release contains all of the content of the original game, plus the DLC Pokemon. New to the Switch version are Darkrai, Scizor, Empoleon, Croagunk, and Decidueye. That’s five new playable Pokemon to add to the fray!
Online features will also be revamped in Pokkén Tournament DX. Now you can play Ranked Matches to improve your leaderboard ranking, Friendly Matches to enjoy a good battle without any kind of rank change, and Group Matches to get a battle lobby going. There’s an all new 3-on-3 battle mode that lets you take on a team of three Pokemon with your own.
Finally, during this year’s E3 – which is only a couple of days away – Nintendo will be hosting a Pokkén Tournament DX Invitational Tournament for the game. Tune in to see what the gameplay is like from some top players! Pokkén Tournament DX will be available September 22nd, 2017.
Now, it’s back to the stars for the newest Pokemon adventures. Pokémon Ultra Sun & Pokémon Ultra Moon are all-new side stories that take place within the islands of Alola. They didn’t talk too much about these games, but we do know that there will be new Pokemon to meet and battle with. The two games will be available November 17th, 2017.
Lastly, Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver are coming in their original forms to the 3DS eShop. As was the case with the first generation of Gameboy Pokemon games, Gold and Silver will be compatible with the Pokémon Bank application which lets you transfer Pokemon between generations. These games will launch alongside Pokkén Tournament DX on September 22nd.
