Famed developers of The Witcher series have unfortunately come across a big problem. Earlier today CD Projekt Red tweeted on their official Twitter account that a group of unidentified individuals have somehow gotten internal assets from their upcoming game Cyberpunk 2077. Check out the tweet below:

In an ironic twist of fate, the game about cyber hackers has been hit by cyber criminals. We have to hand it to CDPR though, as they seem to be handling the situation just fine. Rather than giving into the ransom demands of this unknown group of hackers, they have decided to stand firm and not comply. Instead, they’ve opted to warn their community about potential – and that is a big potential – spoilers about their upcoming game.
Considering that the game has only recently been teased, we can assume that the game is still in its heavy developmental phase. Thus, the game probably won’t be released for at least a couple more years… which means that whatever documents that these guys managed to get their hands on are very, very early documents that are most likely going to change drastically by the time the game comes out proper.
This brings to mind a similar incident back when The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was prepping for release. Internal documents for that game were leaked as well, and a lot of the files detailed the game’s story and ending, among other things. We wish them the best of course, but perhaps it might be time to reexamine online security?
With that said however, it’s just something to be aware of. If you’re a diehard fan of The Witcher games and are super excited for their newest game, we recommend staying clear of any kind of unofficial news and previews related to Cyberpunk 2077. You heard it yourself – CD Projekt Red will officially release news about the game when the time is right, so sit tight. We’ll have more – hopefully positive this time – news on Cyberpunk 2077 later this year.
