A while ago we announced that Electronic Arts might be working on a new title based on Dante’s The Divine Comedy, Dante’s Inferno. Today Electronic Arts have decided to officially confirm the development of the game, offer the first few details and even release a teaser trailer which, as expected, managed to make us very, very curious.
Dante’s Inferno will be developed by the horror experts over at EA Redwood (the studio that did Dead Space). The game will be a third person action-adventure game that will take the player to a journey through the twisted, menacing nine circles of hell in pursuit of Beatrice, our main hero’s loved one. And with these nine circles of hell being limbo, lust, gluttony, greed, wrath, heresy, violence, fraud and treachery you can imagine that the game experience will most likely be very intense and enjoyable.
“The time is right for the world of interactive entertainment to adapt this literary masterpiece, and to re-introduce Dante to an audience that, until now, may have been unfamiliar with the remarkable details of this great work of art,” said Jonathan Knight, executive producer for Dante’s Inferno. “It’s the perfect opportunity to fuse great gameplay with great story.”
Hopefully the part with “great gameplay and story” will never be forgotten and EA will deliver a game that’s better than anything they made until now. But there’s still time to find out if that’s the case or not. Until then, you can visit the official website of the game and check Dante’s Inferno teaser video.
