Everybody knew it was coming, but now it’s official: Capcom confirmed that a multi-platform Dead Rising 2 is in development. The developers plan to create a game bigger and meaner than ever, with tens of thousands of zombies promised to be put against us (yes, you’ve read correctly: tens of THOUSANDS!). That’s incredible, especially since it doesn’t come from a guy like Peter Molyneux.
Back to Dead Rising 2, we should all know that it’s set several years after the action in the original game. Therefore, we’ll be taken into a country where the zombie outbreak continues to strike (no, the zombie virus was not contained at the conclusion of Dead Rising) and we’ll have to strike back too! For that, we’ll have new in-game objects and new weapons, so we should be fine.
Dead Rising 2 is being developed in partnership with Canadian developer Blue Castle Games. A number of members from the original Dead Rising team will be working alongside Blue Castle Games throughout the development process, including Capcom’s global head of research and development, Keiji Inafune, who as the game’s Producer will play an active role in the project. The game is scheduled for a release on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, but we have no estimated date set yet. We’ll post updates as soon as we have them.
