In what we could call a big, surprising piece of news, we found out that BioWare is putting together a new development team to handle the upcoming Mass Effect 2 RPG which was officially confirmed recently. It appears that the studio, based in Montreal, will be the result of a mixture of BioWare and EA staff who will be working together on the project. As you can imagine, details are pretty scarce at the moment.
We do know, however, that BioWare is still looking for some fresh new talent: according to a job posting on the company’s official website, animators, designers and artists are still needed. Even more, Game Daily had official confirmation from BioWare that this is indeed happening:
“We’re really excited about [the new group], and we think it’s going to be a huge opportunity to tap into the talent base in Monteral while supplementing our existing teams in Edmonton and Austin, which are doing some great stuff on all the other projects BioWare’s working on,” told them BioWare’s CEO Ray Muzyka
An interesting and unexpected move. Now we can only hope that it’s a good one for Mass Effect 2, too.
