Valve has announced the upcoming release of Crash Course, the newest Left 4 Dead campaign that will see daylight this September. This brand new campaign will will bridge the gap between the “No Mercy” and “Death Toll” campaigns and will, of course, delight the fans who feared that Valve will simply “forget” about the original Left 4 Dead now that the sequel is coming.
Speaking about the new Crash Course campaign, Valve’s Gabe Newell said: “Since the release of Left 4 Dead last November, the design team has been excited about creating new experiences for this world and allowing players to do the same, by releasing much of our internal toolset, like the Survival Pack and Authoring Tools. We’re working with the fans toward the ongoing entertainment value of the product.”
Basically, the new campaign will deliver both Survival as maps ans well as a co-op campaign, but according to Valve their main goal when creating Crash Course was to deliver a complete Versus mode experience (in just 30 minutes), and the results were a streamlined version of the game’s existing Versus campaigns. Interesting.
Also, the new content that will hit our hard disks in September will include a recharge timer for infected teammates, while item spawn behavior has changed for more balanced gameplay… All in all, it’s some amazing news – especially since the PC owners of the game will get the Crash Course campaign for free!
