It has almost been eight years since the Xbox 360 was launched, and the Xbox One arrives in a blaze of glory, accounting for 80% of the hardware sales this week.
The Xbox One enjoyed 16 launch titles, and 10 appear in the All Formats Top 40 this week, exactly the same amount as the Xbox 360 launch managed back in 2005.
After seven weeks off the top, FIFA 14 has returned to the summit of the charts with help from the launch of the Xbox One, the leading format for the game. The Xbox One, of course, included an Xbox One Day 1 FIFA 14 Edition, not only put FIFA back at the top but also helped it become the best-selling Xbox One game at launch, according to Chart Track.
The inclusion of this bundle in the physical high street sales means that the chart is somewhat misleading for this week.
The PS4 version of FIFA is also able to make an appearance in the Individual Formats Chart, despite the console not coming out for another week in the UK.
Call of Duty: Ghosts drops down to second in the charts after holding the top spot for two weeks (the Xbox One and PS4 versions were released last week), whilst the Xbox One launch helps Battlefield 4 back up to third, and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag keeps its place in fourth.
Forza Motorsport 5 becomes the best-selling Xbox One exclusive, like FIFA with thanks to a Day One Edition console bundle, as it enters at number five.
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes drops down to sixth in the charts, with Dead Rising 3 being the next best performing Xbox One exclusive in seventh. Grand Theft Auto V drops down to eighth, and Nintendo are able to take ninth in the charts following the release of the 3DS exclusive The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. Ryse: Son of Rome rounds off the Top 10 this week.
The UK All Formats Top 10 (Week ending 23rd November) is as follows:
- (3) FIFA 14
- (1) Call of Duty: Ghosts
- (5) Battlefield 4
- (-) Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag
- (N) Forza Motorsport 5
- (2) LEGO Marvel Super Heroes
- (N) Dead Rising 3
- (6) Grand Theft Auto V
- (N) The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
- (N) Ryse: Son of Rome
The full Top 40 can be viewed here.
Unsurprisingly the Xbox One has a massive impact this week, and with the PS4 coming out in the UK this Friday, I think we might see something similar next chart.
A final word, I would like to take a moments silence for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition, which falls out of the All Formats Top 10 for the first time since its launch, coming in at Number 11 this week.
