guinnessworldrecords2009gamerseditionFollowing the release of the Guinness World Records 2009 Gamer’s Edition, we were presented with the Top 50 Console Games of all times, a top which might be found a little strange by some, but which can be backed up by facts (especially the “units sold” one). Even more, we all know that tops are subjective and therefore not all people will agree with them. Still, we have the Top 50 Console Games of all times, as listed by the Guinness World Records 2009 Gamer’s Edition.

The top spot was grabbed by… Super Mario Kart, followed by Tetris and Grand Theft Auto (not the game, but the franchise). So things are a bit mixed up between franchises and specific titles, but we’ll live with that.

Number four to ten on the top list include, in ranking order, Super Mario World (#4), Zelda Ocarina of Time (#5), Halo (#6), Resident Evil IV (#7), Final Fantasy XII (#8), Street Fighter II (#9) and GoldenEye (#10). Things get even more interesting with the next 20 places: Super Mario 64 (# 11), Tomb Raider (#12). Metal Gear Solid (#13), Call of Duty 4 (#14), Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (#15), GTA San Andreas (#16), Super Mario Bros (#17), Zelda: A Link to the Past (#18), Gran Turismo (#19), Final Fantasy VII (#20).

If you wish to see which were the other 30 titles considered “the greatest of all times”, as well as many, many more crazy things related to gaming, go buy yourself the Guinness World Records 2009 Gamer’s Edition – it’s clearly a must buy for any respectable gamer!
