midnight-club-laRockstar have announced that Midnight Club: Los Angeles fans will have an even bigger city to explore starting March 12, since they’re planning to release the free South Central Map Expansion for their racing game – this time, the DLC hits both Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles.

According to the developers, the free South Central Map Expansion will expand Midnight Club: Los Angeles by one third, adding four new neighborhoods to make up the iconic district of South Central. However, if you want to get the “real deal” you will have to pay for it, since Rockstar will also release, at the same date, the South Central Premium Upgrade for 800 MS Points (or $9.99).

This paid downloadable content will bring in nine new vehicles, 26 new races, 12 new battle maps, 10 new delivery missions, over 100 new red light races and all sorts of extra stuff for the cars. So, in other words, the free DLC is nothing but… nothing. But at least we’re getting that for free – I know a few developers who would gladly charge some coins for that!
