EA Prepares PC Exclusive Standalone Expansion for Red Alert 3

RA3 WallpaperProbably proved once again that real time strategies are best played on PCs with a mouse and a keyboard, Electronic Arts has announced the upcoming release of Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3: Uprising, a PC exclusive standalone expansion for the appreciated RTS. Original reports from Electronic Arts state that the expansion will only be available as digital download.

Red Alert 3: Uprising will take players into the aftermath of the battles presented in the initial game, with the Soviets still reeling from a crushing defeat, the Empire of the Rising Sun desperately trying to regain both honor and identity and the seemingly victorious Allies finding themselves in the midst of corruption and deceit within their own ranks. In other words, you’ll have to start over again and enjoy some quality time in the game’s company.

Uprising will be exclusively single player based, bringing four new mini-campaign – one for each faction and a bonus one entered on the origins of the Empire of the Rising Sun’s commando Yuriko. The expansion will also introduce a new game mode, the Commander’s Challenge which will allow players to test their skills against a variety of AI commanders from different territories and difficulty levels.

Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3: Uprising is scheduled to be released this March and fans of the game will probably appreciate the return of Gemma Atkinson and Ivana Milicevic to the game’s cinematics (and, from what it seems, the removal of Jenny McCarthy as Tanya). Other Hollywood stars will make their debut as C&C characters, but EA refused to name any of them for the time being.
