This big announcement was made by Jeff Gardiner in an interview with Eurogamer: “Along with removing the game’s ‘ending’ with Broken Steel, we figure raising the level cap would allow them to [enjoy the game for longer]. We plan on raising it to level 30 – but it will be a long, hard climb to get there!”
It will probably prove to be not only a popular decision, but also a DLC seller: maxed out players will have reasons to both continue playing Fallout 3 and purchase the downloadable content packs in order to have more options for experience gathering. And the “hard climb to get there” could (hopefully) mean that Bethesda will also give us some brand new creatures to fight against!
However, we’ll see for sure in March, when the third DLC pack, Broken Steel, will be released. Until then, Operation: Anchorage will be expanding the game’s universe this month and another pack is planned for February.
