The holiday season is really close and this month will deliver a few hits in terms of computer gaming, so you might be wondering which would be the best computer games you could purchase this month for the best possible experience. I have checked out all the releases (at least the most important ones) and came up with a list of nine computer games you won’t regret purchasing in October. Let’s check them out!

01-flashpont1. Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising
The tactical shooter from Codemasters is already out and has all the chances to become the hottest and most successful game release of the month and maybe even a candidate for the computer game of the year. So you know that you must try such a game, right? Purchase it from Amazon or Play Asia and share with the Unigamesity readers your thoughts on the game!

02-borderlands2. Borderlands
I think that mentioning the game’s developer is enough to let you know how hotly anticipated this game is and what a huge potential it has: Gearbox Software, developers of some Half Life titles and Brothers in Arms. Apart from that, Borderlands is a sci-fi FPS that will feature four player co-op play, a random level generator and huge replay value. In other words, true value for the $45 it costs. So hurry up and get it from Amazon or Play Asia!

03-risen3. Risen
The game is already out and, even though not as advertised and marketed as other games, it has a huge potential to become one of the most pleasant surprises of the year. Risen is an RPG title developed by the same people behind the Gothic series (Piranha Bytes) and so it has some huge potential if it manages to be a bug-free release. Order it on Amazon or Play Asia.

04-nba4. NBA 2K10
Unfortunately, this is the only basketball sim left on the market after EA decided to offer their NBA series only to console owners. Fortunately, NBA 2K9 was a really hot title and 2K’s 2010 version of the game promises to rise to the standards and deliver some great NBA action. It comes with lots of cool new features and it is definitely a must own title if you love this game, too! You can get it from Amazon.

05-tropico5. Tropico 3
This might be a hit or miss game, so don’t hurry to purchase it yet. However, if the first reviews of the game are good, hurry and grab it since it means that Kalypso has done a great job. The first two titles in this state sim/management game were simply brilliant and funny, and so should be the third in the series. Let’s hope for the best and keep an eye on it on Amazon.

06-fallene6. Fallen Earth
The MMORPG/MMOFPS from Icarus Studios is already out since late last month but it was mainly ignored by the media and public, especially because of the hot release of Aion. But now that the hype is gone, you can give Fallen Earth a shot since it is a very nice, action-packed MMO. You can order your copy on Amazon.com.

07-worldshift7. Worldshift
Already released in Germany and considered a pretty solid real time strategy game, WorldShift will soon hit the rest of the world who will most likely enjoy playing as any of the three in-game factions. You probably haven’t heard too much about this game until now, but let me tell you a developer’s name and you decide if it’s worth the “risk”: Crytek. Happy purchasing here.

08-sw8. Star Wars: The Clone Wars – Republic Heroes
Similar to Revenge of the Sith, Republic Heroes has more to offer that an incredibly long title: action packed levels in which you can play as your favorite Jedis (like Anakin, Obi-Wan or Mace Windu) and also enjoy the drop in-drop out co-op mode. Probably best suited for true Star Wars fans, the Republic Heroes might still prove to be one of the most pleasant surprises of the month. See for yourself if the game suits your needs on Amazon.com or PlayAsia.

09-lol9. League of Legends: Clash of Fates
Even though DotA fans have just received some great news, it doesn’t mean that League of Legends: Clash of Fates should be ignored. Especially because it is created by the father of DotA itself: Steve “Guinsoo” Feak and it is considered and presented as the sequel to (or spiritual successor of) Defense of the Ancients: Allstars (aka DotA) so for the fans of the mod is certainly a must buy product. It also comes cheap, for less than $30 on Amazon.

These are my nine suggestion for computer games to purchase this October. Will you get any of these or you have other computer games you’re going to spend your money on this month?
