“These games fully capture the magnificent and whimsical world of Underland while experiencing key moments from the film,” said Craig Relyea, senior vice president of global marketing, Disney Interactive Studios. “More than just a retelling of the movie, Alice in Wonderland introduces fans to an entirely new style of innovative gameplay designed to challenge the puzzle solving skills of older players while making the adventures accessible and enjoyable for the younger crowd. Innovative gameplay and distinct artistic styles on each platform gives players a range of unique and engaging experiences.”
Although certainly nothing near American McGee’s Alice, Alice in Wonderland will still carry players through the Underland. Along the way, we will be able to call in for help from our friends who will allow us to use their special abilities. For example the Cheshire Cat can help evade traps by making objects appear and disappear while Mad Hatter can help Alice alter her perception of Underland and take advantage of optical illusions to open up places in the world the player alone would not have noticed. So, at least in theory, the concept is quite amazing.
We were not informed if the original cast will lend their voices for the game character, but I do believe that should happen. Also, even though no exact release date has been announced, I think it would be safe for us to imagine that the game will be released at the same time with the movie, sometime in 2010.
