Interworks Unlimited announced that they have developed a Xbox One Privacy Cover. It is apparently a sliding accessory, that can cover the Kinect’s camera lens with just a “swipe” by your finger. It is advertised as a solution for both your privacy, and as a protection for the camera in the device. It looks pretty discrete– without adding anything bulky or ugly to the Kinect itself.

Interworks Unlimited has stated the following about the Privacy Cover:
In addition to privacy protection, the InterWorks Unlimited Xbox One Privacy Cover also provides protection for your Kinect 2.  With the high cost of new consoles, one can never be too careful with protecting that investment.  The InterWorks Unlimited Xbox One Privacy Cover provides needed protection from dust, fingerprints, and scratches.

The cover is available at Amazon for $19.99.

While it is certainly easier to slide a cover in front of the Kinects camera, than unplugging it from the console every time you want some privacy – I personally do not know if I would pay extra for such thing. For families this product might be worth getting. Especially if they are worried about their privacy, and damage to the Kinect. But for a lone wolf in an apartment it might seem a bit unnecessary. What do you think? Do you feel the need for such a product? Feel free to comment.
