Temple Run: Oz is very similar to Temple Run 2, Disney uses their engine to add new features to the game to make it completely different. If Temple Run: Oz is your first game from the series, try using these tips to help improve your game play as you take a run through the world of “Oz the Great and Powerful.”

Swipe before obstacles

This may seem like you do it everyday, but trust me, you are not doing it the right way. Once you start off playing the game, you automatically notice that there are many obstacles that must be dodged in order to advance in the game. You must jump over things, slide under things, sprint left and right to not fall off the edge, and steer to the left or right of the path to avoid trees and such. You probably do the swipes needed to avoid the obstacles right before you are about to encounter it. This is the wrong way to do it. Next time you see an obstacle, try jumping a few seconds before you actually run into it. Once you start doing this, you assure yourself that you aren’t going to hit the obstacle, and it also makes it easier to collect all the coins beside the obstacle if there are any. Killing two birds with one stone.

Score before points

Coins can serve as both an advantage and a distraction in Temple Run. Once you are starting a game, it is safe to collect a few coins to save for later to buy power ups and upgrades. After you get more into the game though, after maybe 10,000m, it is not a good idea to continue hunting down coins. The coins may become your #1 priority and you may end up falling into an abyss, or hitting a log. As you get farther into the game, and it starts speeding up, try to focus on getting your score up, and leave the coins behind.

Slide, hop

As you get further into the game, there will be many turns on the path in which there will be a gap right after you make the slide. Always be ready to jump before you hit a turn. Sometimes, try your best to pre-jump just in case, even if you don’t know if there is a gap there. It’s better to be over-prepared than under.

Never use speed powerups

Speed power ups just make playing the game harder without the player even knowing it. After you use the speed power up, you do advance a little more in the game in a shorter amount of time, but you will be traveling faster than you would be if you were just playing the game casually. Never use speed power ups, they are just useless, instead use invisibility, magnets, or gold coins.
