tlrAlthough not quite Square Enix’ biggest hit, the action RPG The Last Remnant will head to personal computers next year with a hope of doing just a bit better than the Xbox 360 version. The PC version will be released in Spring 2009 and, as it usually happens with later ports, it will add some extra features to make the purchase worthwhile.

Unfortunately, except for localized versions of The Last Remnant, Square Enix did not go on to detail the new features, which makes us worry regarding their quality. Also, we’re taking this announcement with a pinch of salt since right now I can’t think of any Square Enix PC port that actually felt like a PC game… Well, hopefully the company has learned from the mistakes committed in the past and we’ll have our quality title now.

The story of The Last Remnant begins with the presentation of Rush, the main character who lives with his sister Irina on the secluded Eulam Island, a place far removed from the ceaseless battle for control over the Remnants which rages on the mainland. However, his peaceful life is shattered one day when he witnesses his sister’s abduction by a mysterious group of soldiers. He immediately sets off after them, ill-prepared for the evils of the outside world but determined to find his sister at any cost.
