According to IGN, asked if there are any plans to deal with the event of the E-Day (when the Locust attacked humans), Ortega simply stated: “You will not be disappointed in the next ten years. It’s a ten-year plan. Gears is long-term. The lancer is the new lightsaber”
This could mean that we should indeed prepare for a Gears of War prequel – but it might as well mean that we won’t be disappointed with what Epic plans for the future, even though it’s not a prequel. However, a prequel would make complete sense and it would round the story up quite nicely. I guess we’ll soon hear about the company’s plans for the future – some more detailed and exact ones, hopefully.
