Minecraft screen shotThe Playstation 3 version of Minecraft was finally released in mid-December but the game’s creator, Markus “Notch” Persson, did state that there aren’t any plans to bring the game to Nintendo’s flagship system.

Notch explained, while speaking on twitter, that “I am not aware of any plans to release a Wii U version of Minecraft.”

Notch did state that when Microsoft’s exclusivity on the title was finally up, the game will see it’s release on other major platforms, hence the PS3 version. But Notch was also quick to state that a Wii U version was never considered in the first place.

Notch also said that the reasoning behind the lack of a Wii U version for the game isn’t because he hates Nintendo, he loves them actually, but because his team have too much on their plate already.

“I agree a Wii U version would make sense, [by the way]”, he said on twitter. “The only reason for no current plans is we’ve got too much work already. I <3 Nintendo.”

Currently Mojang, the game’s developers, are hard at work on bringing Minecraft over to the Playstation Vita, Xbox One, and Playstation 4. Currently, there have been over 33 million units of Minecraft sold already even without its presence on the aforementioned consoles.
