It appears that Microsoft and their Xbox 360 console are recording a strong comeback in Europe, especially in the UK, following the price cut a couple of weeks ago. According to sales tracking reports, the console sales saw an increase of 214% in the last two weeks, outselling the PS3 by more than two-to-one. Santa seems to be coming early for MS this year!

Chris Lewis, Vice President, Interactive Entertainment Business EMEA, manages to sum things up pretty well: “This data shows that the Xbox 360 trajectory continues upwards, and not just in the UK. We’ve seen uplift in all countries in Europe and are confident that even at this rate of growth we can keep retail satisfied with a steady supply of consoles throughout the Christmas season.”

These sale increases come mainly because of the reduction of the entry-level price point for the Xbox 360 consoles to £129.99 (about $250) but also because of a huge marketing campaign launched by Microsoft. For example in Australia, Pussycat Dolls are promoting the console and the upcoming karaoke game, Lips. And we all love the pussycats, don’t we?
