battlefield-heroesLess than a month after its release, Battlefield Heroes has a bit over 1 million sign-ups, informed a probably delighted Electronic Arts. And even though the third person shooter MMO developed by DICE is a “free-to-play” game based on microtransactions, the numbers are still impressive.

However, EA didn’t mention how many of these people actually used the microtransaction system or how much income did Battlefield Heroes generate (and they will probably never do that either), but they certainly have more than they would if only 1,000 players would’ve created an account!

Now all Electronic Arts and DICE have to do is to keep improving the game, add extra content and make sure that everything runs smoothly. The competition is really high in the MMOFPS genre, too, so the number of active players could easily drop if the content doesn’t remain top notch.
