PS4As I’m sure most of you have been following, there have been several reports of faulty PS4s getting into the hands of several news outlets and even players. Both IGN and Kotaku have reported to have at least one PS4 that did not work, with the HDMI port becoming unable to successfully connect the system to an HDMI cable with the video working on the TV.

Several users from NeoGAF have also experienced the same type of problems with their PS4s. But these users have all had access to the system earlier due to winning the Taco Bell competition that was viciously promoted on TV.

IGN has asked Sony for an official statement, and the company has provided one. They have come to the conclusion that these units are just isolated systems that only mark a .4% of the total consoles that are being shipped.

“A handful of people have reported issues with their PlayStation 4 systems. This is within our expectations for a new product introduction, and the vast majority of PS4 feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. We are closely monitoring for additional reports, but we think these are isolated incidents and are on track for a great launch.

There have been several problems reported, which leads us to believe there isn’t a singular problem that could impact a broader percentage of systems. The number of affected systems represents less than .4% of shipped units to date, which is within our expectations for a new product introduction.”

We will update this story with any incoming news.
