Square Enix have announced that they’ll be continuing the story of the rebooted Lara Croft in a graphic novel. Speaking to Kotaku Gail Simone, the writer for the graphic novel, stated that what she’s working on will lead into a sequel for the first game.

The graphic novel will be published by Dark Horse, and begins a few weeks after the end of the game. The plot revolves around a Lara Croft that has just started to adventure out into the world, and the comic will follow her as she continues to evolve into the character made famous in the older Tomb Raider games.

While the rebooted Tomb Raider took place solely on a single “claustrophobic” island, the comic will detail a “globetrotting” Lara Croft.

All of the events depicted in the comic will be canon to the Tomb Raider world, but more importantly, they’ll lead “directly” into a sequel.

While it was assumed that Square Enix would release another Tomb Raider game, based off the critical acclaim the reboot received, this confirms the fact.

The graphic novel will be released February 26, 2014.
