Sony’s UK managing director  Fergal Gara, in an interview with CVG, has stated that value is more important than price. Gara and the company he works for both believe that customers will prefer buying a PS4 over the Xbox One because of the value Sony’s new system provides; not because it is $100 cheaper.

“Price isn’t everything,” Gara said. “It’s an advantage, but it can move over time. Value to the customer is everything, which is price and quality of content for that price. We feel in very good shape on that front. We’re really pleased.”

Gara also went on mentioning the indie launch-line up that will be available for customers. There will be “about 20 games” available day one.

“We’re opening the doors to indie developers and I think you can already see the results of that,” Gara said.

In contrast Xbox director Albert Penello stated that Microsoft aren’t worried about the Xbox One being more expensive than PS4. In a interview with Gamespot a month ago Penello had stated that the Xbox One is a better system than the PS4, “I think we do more. I think our games are better. I think as people start to experience Kinect and see what it can do using voice, I think that’s better,” Penello said at the time. “I think the ability to have an all-in-one system where you can plug in the TV, that’s better. I think we’ll have a better online service.”

“I just believe that we’re going to have a better system. $100, when you’re talking $400 vs. $500 [shrugs shoulders]. I don’t believe it’s going to be the deal-killer,” he added.

The PS4 is set to launch on November 15 in North America and November 29 in Europe. The Xbox One is set to launch on November 22 in 13 territories including North America and Europe.
