PS4 vs Xbox One compositeDemand for Sony’s next-gen console are well ahead of Xbox One’s pre-orders, according to Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot. The console has well over 1 million pre-orders at hand, a number that was beyond anyone’s expectations.

But even though the Xbox One might not have the same kind of demand as Sony’s system, Guillemot stressed that Microsoft’s console will still be an instant hit this holiday, and for the foreseeable future.

“What we see is that there is a good preorder list on that machine. Even if the PS4 is in front in terms of preorders, we see lots of improvement in the preorders that are coming on [Xbox One],” Guillemot said. “So no, we are not worried at all. We think it will be a big seller as well.”

Microsoft’s initial poor showing back in May might have affected sales numbers for their console, but the company was brave and smart enough to change their philosophical stance in June; eliminating DRM and always online requirements. As of writing, Xbox One is outpacing Xbox 360’s pre-order numbers 2-1.

Sony’s PS4 will launch this Friday on November 15 in North America and November 29 in Europe. Xbox One will launch globally on November 22.
