left4dead2-screennewLeft 4 Dead 2, even though criticized by many for its sudden announcement, is still one of Valve’s biggest games and pre-orders for the first person shooter sequel stand at 300% more compared to the original Left 4 Dead. But that doesn’t seem to be enough for Valve who is going to launch an impressive campaign that will cost them $25 million.

“We’ll be supporting Left 4 Dead 2’s launch with a $25 million campaign,” said Valve’s VP of marketing Doug Lombardi, according to 1UP. He added:

“Left 4 Dead 2 has already set the record for greatest number of pre-orders in our company’s history, and we’re still over a month out from shipping.”

As I told you yesterday, you can pre-order Left 4 Dead 2 on Steam and get some extra goodies and make it worthwhile for Valve to spend such incredible amounts of money on marketing. I know most of the fans would’ve preferred to hear that the developers spent the extra money on extra development, but nothing is perfect.

Which makes me wonder why am I promoting the game for free when there are $25 million to be had from Valve? Can’t they spare a little thousand dollars for a poor soul like myself?
