Probably one of the main reasons why the Call of Duty franchise is so popular is its brilliant multiplayer and Black Ops 2 makes no exception. However, lag is also an unwanted presence in multiplayer matches in the game and there is little that we can do to keep it from taking over. But this doesn’t mean that there is nothing to do and I am here to share with you some tips and tricks on how to reduce Black Ops 2 lag in multiplayer!

One sure way to do it is to get past that “lag compensation” mechanic in the game, and in order to do so you have to access the “Search Preferences” option in the Online > Public Match > Find Match area (aka your Playlist option on your preferred platform). The default setting there is “Normal” but you should switch it to “Best”. This will increase your Black Ops 2 performance in multiplayer and reduce lag and you’ll have a great time playing the game.

Some of the players playing the console version of the game reported that installing the game on their HDD – installing the textures – reduced the lag in-game although personally I don’t really see why that would happen. However, it’s worth trying if you are having problems with the lag in the game!

And the obvious ones are to make sure that you close, before starting the game, any programs that use bandwidth – like internet downloads or uploads (file sharing and such), even your Antivirus because it can slow things down. Tuning down the resolution of the game also helps!

And these are the tips to reduce lag in Black Ops 2 – if you found other ways of reducing lag in the game, don’t hesitate to let us know in the comment section below!
