codFor the fifth week in a row, Activision’s World War II shooter Call of Duty: World at War tops the UK sales charts, which brings the game one step closer to break the record for the longest uninterrupted run-in to a Christmas No. 1. Surprisingly or not, the two games placed right behind CoD are, just like last week, Nintendo’s Mario Kart Wii and EA’s FIFA 09.

Next week we will find out which game breaks some records for its publisher: if Call of Duty WaW grabs the first place, then it will record the longest uninterrupted run-in to a Christmas No. 1 (six weeks). However, if the second placed, Mario Kart Wii manages to grab the first position in the charts, it will be the first Nintendo title since Ocarina of Time to top sales charts during the holidays.
