We still believe that gaming on the cheapo is a solution, so we’ve decided to take a look on Amazon and share with you the best cheap gaming laptops for 2017: gaming laptops that you can purchase for less than $1,000 bucks. And even though you won’t get the same juicing power as you would normally get from a gaming desktop PC, these laptops all have an amazing processor under the hood and some overall nice specs to keep you gaming.

Update: This article has been rewritten and updated in 2017, with brand new products for you to check out. Make sure to bookmark this article and visit it each year for updated results on the best gaming laptops under $1,000!

So, without further ado, here are the best gaming laptops in 2017 (under $1,000 – with the last 4 being the ones we wholeheartedly recommend if you can go really close to the $1,000 bar):

Acer Aspire E 15 E5-575G-53VG

Acer is always high on my list when it comes to solid budget gaming laptops as they have some products that are almost too good to be true. This particular model usually sells for under $600 (make sure to check the actual prices as they can change at any given time!) And despite it’s cheap price, it’s a really solid budget gaming laptop!

Running on an Intel Core i5-6200U Processor (Up to 2.8GHz) and 8GB of RAM, it has enough processing power to handle current generation games! It’s also backed up by a solid dedicated graphics card, the NVIDIA GeForce 940MX with 2GB DDR5 VRAM. Even though this card is a few generations old, it still delivers a great performance and can handle recent games (even though not at full resolution). Looking at the price though, we know that we have a great deal for the money!

The Acer Aspire E 15 E5-575G-53VG has a 15.6-inch Full HD display and comes with Windows 10 installed. It has a decent battery which can offer hours of running on a single charge – but if you start gaming, you should have it plugged in, just like all gaming laptops out there. One of the things I don’t really like is the limited storage space: it only has 256GB of storage, but at least it’s a SSD we’re talking about, which means increased reading and writing speed so overall even better performance for your laptop.

So if you’re on a budget, this is a great choice for you. Find out more and buy it before it sells out following the links below. We’ll always offer links to both US and EU Amazon stores so that you keep the shipping costs at a minimum (or get your products shipped for free):

Dell Inspiron i7559-2512BLK

best-cheap-gaming-laptops-under-1000-in-2017-02

This is a really beautiful gaming laptop created by Dell and selling on the cheap! You can’t help but notice the sleek design and the backlit keyboard which is something us gamers love!

But it doesn’t have looks only! It’s specifications are really good too: this one is running on an Intel Quad Core i7-6700HQ 2.6 GHz Processor – and we’ve already talked about how great these processors are! It is also comes with a more recent GPU, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M with 4GB of memory. And it’s all rounded up with 8GB of RAM to keep things running smoothly.

This is also a 15.6 Inch full HD laptop coming with Windows 10 installed and offering a hybrid storage option: 1TB HDD and 8GB SSD. However, the SSD is so small that you can simply ignore it – really, it makes little sense to have it but you could still install a game or two on it for the increased speed. Another thing worth noting is that it doesn’t have an optical drive.

All in all, I really like this Dell Inspirion laptop and for those looking for a smaller cheap gaming laptop – 15.6-inch – it is the perfect choice. It’s fairly priced and offers a lot in return, so it’s really a great deal!

Lenovo Y700

best-cheap-gaming-laptops-under-1000-in-2017-03

From now on, we’re moving to larger laptops: 17.3-inch displays are, in my opinion, a better choice for gaming laptops and fortunately there are some great options available at good prices and we have the covered here. And we’ll start with Lenovo’s take on the gaming laptop scene – the Lenovo Y700.

It runs on an 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7 processor, it comes with 8GB of RAM and is powered by the Discrete NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M graphics card. The large display supports full HD resolutions and has an anti-glare coating, which makes gaming even better. It also offers a lot of storage thanks to its 1TB HDD, but I am a bit disappointed to see it’s on the slower side at 5,400 RPM. But that’s not a deal breaker!

It also has some nice bells and whistles: it comes with JBL speakers and offers surround sound. It has a nice design and backlit keyboards to round up everything. All in all, this is a good gaming laptop for the money and even though I’m not Lenovo’s #1 fan, I must give them credit where credit is due!

ASUS ROG GL752VW-DH74

best-cheap-gaming-laptops-under-1000-in-2017-04

You can’t really have a “best gaming laptops” list without a ROG product and I am happy to see that thanks to some discounts, they manage to sell under $1,000. This particular model is my favorite on this list if we consider everything: price, performance and looks.

The ROG GL752VW-DH74 runs on an Intel Core i7-6700HQ 2.6GHz processor, is powered by 16GB of RAM and also comes with a dedicated graphics card, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M with 4GB VRAM. In other words, things are looking really nice on its large 17.3-inch Matte FHD display!

And they get better as the storage options are great as well: 1TB HDD and 128GB SSD, the perfect combo for keeping the operating system fast and even get a few of your favorite games running faster than ever on the Solid State Drive. It has a backlit keyboard, it looks good, it feels good, it IS good! As I said, by far my favorite product on this list!

Acer Nitro 17.3

best-cheap-gaming-laptops-under-1000-in-2017-05

We’re rounding things up with another Acer gaming laptop – one that’s completely different from the first one recommended on this list! And you might like this one better if you have a bit more to spend!

Just like the ASUS ROG model above, it is powered by an Intel Core i7-6700HQ Processor and has 16GB of RAM. It also comes with the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M card, but it only has 2GB of VRAM. It offers solid storage with its 1TB HDD, but lacking the SSD option of the ROG model above.

This budget gaming laptop looks like a typical Acer product, with added backlit keys. It’s nothing to write home about design-wise, but you will be more than pleased with its performance when it comes to running games and running them smoothly. It also has a solid battery for regular use and I always consider that a bonus! There’s nothing to complain about when it comes to this model, really, so unless the discount is no longer available for the ASUS ROG model above or this one fits your budget better, get it while supply lasts!

  1. Hello,
Which one of these laptops has the best graphics and frame rate for highly detailed games. I will mainly be playing FIFA but I would also like to be able to play games such as Battlefield 4 with the best possible detail. Which of the above laptops would be best suited to helping me achieve that?
    Thanks

    • Hello Jamo,

You should not expect performances similar to a desktop gaming computer from these laptops. However, the best options are the last two – with the MSI having a slight advantage in terms of processor power, but with the Acer Aspire V3-772G-9829 compensating with its better Graphics card. So I would personally go for the Acer laptop.

  2. LENOVO Y SERIES YOU GUYS!!!! im running on the y410p with HD+ screen and i love it. it has intel i7-4700MQ, NVIDIA GEFORCE GT750m (about to be dual 750M’s when it arrives), 8gb ram, AMAZING speakers and with a beautifully low price starting at $789. heres the link to lenovos website for the y series laptops (go for the y410p/y510p, better cooling, more powerful cpu)

  3. I have the Lenovo Y410P as well, I splurged for the $1299 model with an Intel i7 4700MQ processor, an NVIDIA GEFORCE GT 755M, 8 GB RAM, a 1 TB HDD, 24 GB SSD, and the previously mentioned amazing speakers. It can run any game from Minecraft to Bioshock Infinite with maximum FPS. The SSD also allows for fast boot time if you want to put your OS on it. The design is also excellent, it is a dark, matte pattern on the outside with a glossy interior. It also includes a red, backlit keyboard. The only thing I have to complain about the laptop is the heat sink, well, let me explain… The heat sink is actually really great, it pumps out heat like there’s no tomorrow. This is good because it means that the insides are kept at a comfortable temperature while the heat is dispersed through the heat sink and vent. But… I have a habit of gaming or rendering things in GPU/CPU intensive software while laying in bed. This is problematic because it is, no joke, a fire hazard. If you are doing stuff like what I previously mentioned on a mattress that is insulated with sheets and blankets, it will heat it up to dangerously high temperatures, high enough to inhibit you from laying in that spot on your bed. Once again, this isn’t a problem unless you are spending hours doing those CPU/GPU intensive tasks. All in all, I give this laptop a 10/10. Biggest draw back is the price coming in at around $1,299. If you’re familiar with Lenovo, you know they always have a major sale. Currently you can get my exact model for $900. That’s pretty much it, I recommend the laptop to anyone and everyone that is looking for a great laptop.
