Westwood Games Founder Creates Jet Set Games

jet-setI will always hold Westwood Games in high regard, especially for delivering Dune II (LINK) – just to name the first real time strategy game ever and just one of their high quality products. However, as you probably know, the studio ceased to exist a while ago and nobody heard anything about the staff there. Until now, when Westwood co-founder Brett Sperry appeared out of nowhere to launch a new and promising development studio.

Called Jet Set Games, the studio has other big names as co-founders: Adam Isgreen (designer for Command & Conquer, Star Wars, Dungeons & Dragons) and Rade Stojsavljevic who worked for EA, Activision and Sony.

Still, it seems that we’re not going to receive any more high quality real time strategy games from Jet Set, at least not on PC systems: the company will focus on developing titles for iPhone, Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. I’ve got a feeling that we might be having a new developer focused on the more casual gaming, but I do hope that’s not correct. I’ll be keeping my eyes on the company and keep you updated!
