Just a while ago I have told you about a Modern Warfare 2 survey that hinted at the possibility for a Call of Duty MMO to be in the works and pointed towards an unsettling one: paid-for multiplayer content. Activision quickly found out about these reports and hurried to reassure players that multiplayer in Modern Warfare 2 will still be free!
“This rumor has absolutely nothing to do with Infinity Ward or our games, including Modern Warfare 2. We would never introduce such a system for Modern Warfare 2 so don’t worry,” wrote an Infinity Ward rep on their official forums. “Multiplayer will always be equal and free for everyone.”
This statement could also mean that the reported survey is fake, so unfortunately there will be no Call of Duty MMO in the future. Well, at least the multiplayer is still free and players won’t need any type of premium accounts to have access to extra missions or stuff – there’s DLC for that, anyway!
I can’t help but wonder, though: if the surveys were fake, why would somebody create them just to allow other people to speculate? Why not simply launch a fake report and that’s it? Well, maybe the survey wasn’t quite fake, then, right?
