Capcom is planning to release this holiday season one big surprise to fans of the Resident Evil franchise: Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, described by the developers as “a true third person team based shooter experience”. As always, Unigamesity has all the details about the new game and we’re here to share them with you!

One really interesting feature that Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City promises to deliver is the reiteration of the facts from Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, where you will witness the action from the point of view of the Umbrella security service! Even better is the fact that you can play the game in up to four players in the new co-op mode which certainly tells you a thing or two about the game’s complexity rating!

Zombies and Bio-Organic Weapons (B.O.W’s) add to the mix as players not only compete against an opposing squad but also tackle this third unpredictable element, creating a brand new style of gameplay and breaking the conventions of traditional team based shooters.

Story-wise, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is set in 1998, immediately after the outbreak of the T-virus in Raccoon city. Umbrella orders an elite team (you and up to three fellow gamers!) into Raccoon City to destroy all evidence of the outbreak and eliminate any survivors. Hearing of this plan, the US Government dispatches its own special forces to uncover any evidence that exposes the cause of the viral infection and Umbrella’s actions.

Of course, we will meet classic characters from the Resident Evil franchise, but Capcom only told us that Leon S. Kennedy will certainly be in the game. However, expect to see more familiar faces!

As expected, the new Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City looks amazing and the proof is below, so check out the first ever Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City screenshots to see what I mean:
