Wolfenstein: The New Order Announcement

Today Bethesda Softworks announced Wolfenstein: The New Order via GameSpot. The New Order is the latest in the series of formerly groundbreaking games which in alternate versions of history, the hero, B.J. Blazkowics, kills or re-kills a not dead for some reason Hitler. The new game is set in the 1960s and in addition to probably fighting regular future-past Nazis, Blazkowicz now has to deal with what appear to be Nazi mechs.  The game is slated for a Q4 release date and we can hope that when it does come out, there will be a ridiculous Hitler in a crazy mech suit that needs to be shot a bunch of times.

Few other details are available so far (the news first appeared on GameSpot and doesn’t even appear on Bethesda’s official site yet), but the debut trailer certainly inspires quite a bit of hope (but always be wary of that). The game is being developed by MachineGames, a development house appearing in 2009 formed by former employees of Starbreeze Studios, famous for the Chronicles of Riddick games and the first The Darkness game. Wolfenstein: The New Order is planned to be released on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. It is also planned to appear on any “hypothetical next generation systems,” as well.  If they exist…
