The Santa Monica based developer has two internal teams, one of which recently released June’s The Last of Us; a title which is coined to win Game of the Year. The other team’s last game was Uncharted 3, which was released in 2011.
In other news, reported by MCV, Grand Theft Auto V has quickly surpassed Call of Duty: Black Ops has having the best day-one sales in the UK. Rockstar’s latest open-world epic has sold 1.57 million copies in the first day, bringing in over $104 million in just 24 hours. Data provided by GfK Chart Track data has also allowed for obvious comparisons to be made. Black Ops, which was released in 2010, sold 1.41 million copies. Bringing in $58 million for Activision.
GTAV was predicted to bring in over $1 billion in sales for Rockstar and Take-Two in the first month alone. The game had one of the largest budgets of any game or movie, reportedly costing upwards of $266 million to make. The game already has been deemed a critical masterpiece, with a Metacritic score of a 98. The last time a game was able to reach such a high score was none other than Grand Theft Auto IV.
GTAV launched yesterday, the game is available for the Xbox 360 and PS3.
