Rockstar, developers of the successful Grand Theft Auto franchise, had a publishing agreement with Take Two Interactive that was going to expire in February 2009 and there were all sorts of speculations related to that moment, when many people believed Rockstar and Take Two will part ways. There were even reports suggesting that the GTA IV developers will remain independent and publish their own games.

Today it is proved that all these rumors had no solid grounds and Rockstar will stay with Take Two until 2012 at least, since the two companies have signed a new agreement. Which means that Take Two’s financial problems we’ve reported earlier today are not as bad as they sound.

“We are excited to continue our partnership with the new management team at Take-Two, who have helped us to protect the unique atmosphere that fosters creativity and innovation,” says Rockstar founder and executive producer Sam Houser.

Glad to hear that – let’s hope that by 2012 we’ll receive at least a few titles to match Grand Theft Auto IV in terms of quality.
