Discovered by YouTube user “satantribal”, the video plays the two cut scenes side by side, and both share dramatic similarities. Both contain the same character animations and framing set within different settings and context. The video can be viewed here.
Various outlets contacted Activision for clarification regarding this discovery but they have yet to release a statement or comment, as expected. It should be noted that both Ghosts and Modern Warfare 2 were developed by the same studio, Infinity Ward. But the core team behind Modern Warfare 2 have since left to form Respawn Entertainment, who are currently working on Titanfall.
Just yesterday Avalanche Studios founder Christofer Sundberg expressed his opinion regarding the future of Call of Duty. He believes that Ghosts will mark an end of an era for Call of Duty and that Activision will struggle to keep the franchise relevant.
Ghosts released two days ago and the game’s critical reception isn’t anything to brag about. The game is the worst reviewed major Call of Duty game since the very first Modern Warfare. Activision revealed that the game has generated over $1 billion in revenue, but this figure only pertains to units sold to retailers, not to actual customers.
The game is currently out for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. The game will be available day one alongside the PS4 and Xbox One.
