Call of Duty: Ghosts Onslaught DLC is Free to Play This Weekend on Xbox

CoD GhostsActivision has announced that it will be making the first piece of Call of Duty: Ghosts DLC Onslaught free for a trial period this weekend.

A post on the Ghosts website revealed that at 10am/PDT on Friday 21st March, those with an Xbox 360 or Xbox One will be able to download the games map pack, which ususally costs £11.59/$14.99, free of charge and you can play it until Monday 24th March, when the trial will end.

The pack contains four new small to medium size maps: Bay View, Containment, Fog and Ignition. It also gives you access to a new gun called the Maverick, which can be used either as an assault rifle or sniper, and the first part of a four part narrative in Extinction mode, with episode 1 called Nightfall.

Ignition will be familiar to players of previous Call of Duty’s as it provides a re-imagining of Scrapyard from 2009’s Modern Warfare 2.

Onslaught was originally released on January 28th on Xbox 360 and Xbox One, with it arriving on PC, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 on February 27th. The free trial will apparently be hitting other console at “a later date”.

There are a total of four map packs scheduled for Ghosts that will be available separately or with the Season Pass at a lower price. All pieces of DLC will be available first on Xbox consoles with the next DLC, Devastation, available for Xbox on April 3rd.

Will you be taking part in the trial weekend? Do those of you with the pack already think it’s worth getting?
