Activision has announced the purchase of game developer Budcat Creations a studio that knows its job especially with PlayStation 2 consoles, but Nintendo DS and Wii too. And having in mind that Activision doesn’t make any connections between the PlayStation 2 and the studio, even though Budcat has created the PS2 versions for three Guitar Heroes, we’d assume that the company has no intention to continue developing for the platform.

However, this is less important than the acquisition itself: it proves that Budcat Creations is a highly valued studio, since Activision has worked with the studio on numerous occasions.

“We are thrilled to partner with Activision and believe that this acquisition is a perfect fit for both companies,” said Jeremy Andersen, General Manager of Budcat Creations. “Their world class sales and marketing support coupled with best-in-class execution across all areas of their business means that we can focus our time and resources on what we love and do best – creating great games.”

The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed, nor any game projects announced.
