lotroTalking with VG247, Turbine’s producer Aaron Campbell admitted that the developers of Lord of the Rings Online are pleased with how the game’s doing right now: player base is growing, people keep coming back to play the title and no server mergers are scheduled for the future. That’s great!

“If anything, The Lord of the Rings Online is growing,” he said. “We have no plans to merge servers. And please don’t mention it, it makes me twitch unpleasantly.”

Lord of the Rings Online is already a two years old MMO and that thing with server merging is probably a MMORPG’s developer worst nightmare: it means that the player base is decreasing, therefore the profits are decreasing, therefore the game risks dying. And nobody wants that – Hellgate London and Tabula Rasa developers certainly didn’t want that, but it still happened. And these two games were released at about the same time with LoTRO two years ago. But, from what we can see, Turbine is still doing a great job with the game, so let’s hope they will keep up with the good job!
