Cube Collosus also comes with a story about a girl trying to save her sister and other strange things like that – I didn’t have the patience to follow the story because, well… the text was kind of slow and I reall wanted to blow things up instead of reading! However, the official description of today’s free flash game of the day should be enough to give you a few hints about the plot, if you’re interested:
“A group of interstellar explorer’s lifes being endangered as their comrades lost in a giant mechanical cube-like fortress. Rua Elzee and Cedric Ashcroft, pilots of A.M.U. unit 01, are trying to save their lives, as well as their comrades’.”
See? I told you it was about one’s sister!
Back to the game, one of the most important changes made by the developers is something which they call “inverted controls”, which means that you use the mouse for movement of your ship and the WASD keys for aiming. As you can imagine, even though clearly something new, it doesn’t really offer too much of an experience since enemy cubes usually move faster than your aiming and things might get a bit frustrating in the end, but at least there’s an auto-lock feature which will ease some of the pain.
However, apart from the strange and rather poor controls, Cube Collosus is indeed… huge! Even though not very varied in terms of enemies and landscapes, it certainly delivers non stop action, tough bosses and the fans’ favorite: ship upgrades. Therefore, as I said in the introduction, today’s free flash game of the day will certainly bring the weekend one step closer. So give it a try on Newgrounds by following this link.
