During the latest EA investors conference call there were not just bad news on the menu. Electronic Arts’ CEO John Riccitiello also had a fair share of good news, generally related to the upcoming game release schedule. Therefore, we have new details about Mass Effect 2 and a Dead Space game for Wii.
Regarding Mass Effect 2, everybody knew that the game was coming, but Electronic Arts kept denying that for some reason. However, Riccitiello confirmed that BioWare’s game is coming in the fourth fiscal quarter, which means that we’ll get the game sometime in the release window January – March 2010. Also EA’s CEO said that the game will be released on “multiple platforms”, but he did not specify if he was talking about a PS3 release or an Xbox 360 – PC combination like the original game.
During the same investors conference call, John Ricitiello announced that Dead Space will be ported to Wii consoles, following the company’s plan to bring core intellectual properties and franchise to Nintendo’s console. Dead Space for Wii will be released by the end of the year and, according to Ricitiello, “it is absolutely going to be the quality and fear factor that you’ve got on the PS3/Xbox 360”. Hopefully he’s right.
