modern-warfare2Even though the PC version of Modern Warfare 2 was highly controversial, Infinity Ward’s first person shooter managed to become the best debut game in history and managed to bring tons of cash in the pockets of the developers and publishers. However, rumor has it that Modern Warfare 3 won’t be developed by Infinity Ward, but by an unannounced Canadian developer.

The rumor appeared on website vg247 who quoted a “dev source” saying that a Canadian studio is going to develop Modern Warfare 3, but also newly-formed Sledgehammer Games, headed by ex-Visceral bosses Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey could be the ones in charge for the third Modern Warfare game in the Call of Duty series.

To add fuel to the fire, we have Infinity Ward’s front man Rob Bowling declaration from late October last year: “Right now we don’t have a clue what our next game is going to be, and we won’t know what it will be until we finish with Modern Warfare 2, which won’t be for a while,” he said.

So… could it be that Infinity Ward plans to stop creating the highly successful Modern Warfare games? Or maybe Activision is planning to bring in some new faces to help the game head towards a new direction? Or is this just a rumor that in time will prove to be false? We can’t have the exact answers right now, but we can all debate in the comment section below!
