It appears that this holiday season Santa is a rocker, since legendary bands will come to Activision’s Guitar Hero to enchant their fans with some of the best singles and songs ever released. Of course, since it’s Christmas, it’s freebies time and that is proved by upcoming free tracks from Pepper, Slightly Stoopid and Expendables.

The first top band to offer some of its songs as downloadable content is The Smashing Pumpkins: starting today, a three-song pack is up for grabs. Featuring the recently released single “G.L.O.W.,” “1979” and “Everlasting Gaze,” it could be exactly what fans of the band were expecting to get.

Also, later this month, legendary band Nirvana will make its debut on Rock Band, featuring the final single released by the band, “You Know You’re Right,” along with “Negative Creep,” off the band’s debut album Bleach, and the smash hit “Sliver”. The track pack will hit Guitar Hero World Tour on December 11.

Lastly, on December 18 three new songs will join the already available Hotel California from The Eagles: “Frail Grasp on the Big Picture,” “One of These Nights” and “Life in the Fast Lane.” And don’t forget the free Reggae Rock Track Pack on December 23rd, with “Jimi” from Slightly Stoopid, “Your Face” from Pepper and Expendables’ “Sacrifice.”
