Unlike its predecessor and unlike the title suggests, the new game will put players into the shoes of former outlaw John Marston and not Red Harlow, the hero of the game. Still, this doesn’t mean that Red Dead Redemption doesn’t have the potential of being a high quality release: it is set at the turn of the 20th century when the lawless and chaotic badlands began to give way to the expanding reach of government and the spread of the Industrial Age. But it’s still the gun who writes the law and you’ll have plenty of that!
Red Dead Redemption will be built using Rockstar’s RAGE engine and, as you have probably expected, will be an open-world exploration game which will feature lots of horse riding. Very cool! Also, along the way you will experience the heat of gunfights and battles, meet a host of unique characters, struggle against the harshness of one of the world’s last remaining wildernesses, and ultimately pick your own precarious path through an epic story about the death of the Wild West and the gunslingers that inhabited it.
And not only that the game’s concept sounds great, the visuals seem to match it. Check out these Red Dead Redemption screenshots to see for yourself:
